De voorzitter van de St. Lucia Medical and Dental Association hoopt dat een uitbraak van COVID 19 in het National Mental Wellness Centre zal dienen als een wake-up call voor de rest van de natie. Eén patiënt in de instelling testte op 22 augustus 2021 positief op het virus. Dit was voor het klinische en infectiebeheersingsteam van Millennium Heights Medical Complex (MHMC) aanleiding om contact op te sporen en patiënten en personeel te testen. In totaal werden 86 patiënten en personeel getest met 19 patiënten en 15 personeelsleden die positief testten op COVID-19.
